How Carmilla Lores People Into Trusting Her

The fact that Carmilla is female allows her to get by with her plans easier than a male could within sight. Carmilla herself is quite witty in the fact that she chooses Laura as her play toy knowing she is from a well to do family (It does help too that she is in her bloodline). She is persuasive by putting on a womanly charm and her choice in exposing her rank helps as well. Wrecking in an exquisite carriage and looking very pretty with what she was wearing helped to persuade people to ease their minds about her. Attending to other’s feelings and appearing to share and have a likeness in them also helped for her to persuade people. This especially is the case for Laura in starting their first conversation with her about how she had dreamt about a girl such as herself when very young. Appealing to anyone in sharing what they feel is important definitely draws a person closer to whomever is doing the sharing in those aspects. Carmilla’s choice for going after a young female helped her to avoid having to worry about courtship. Just being able to travel with someone, such as Laura without having to be attended to is very helpful in Carmilla’s ways going to plan and unnoticed. In being so attractive as well allows people to be able to do what they want typically without any repercussions. Some people of course weren't drawn in by Carmilla as much as others, such as the commoner trying to give Laura’s family a gem of protection. For the most part Carmilla is very effective in her methods of captivating people, most certainly Laura. What this says about humans is they enjoy others who are pleasing to their eyes as well as pleasing to the mind.
